Spectral Interferences in the Determination of Traces of Palladium in the Presence of Lead by Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy

The two most sensitive lines for the determination of traces of Pd by atomic absorption spectroscopy (AAS) at 244.8 and 247.6 nm show spectral interferences with Pb. Furthermore, using a spectrometer with Zeeman background correction, negative signals may occur at 247.6 nm because of line splitting....

Zusammenfassung:The two most sensitive lines for the determination of traces of Pd by atomic absorption spectroscopy (AAS) at 244.8 and 247.6 nm show spectral interferences with Pb. Furthermore, using a spectrometer with Zeeman background correction, negative signals may occur at 247.6 nm because of line splitting. In graphite furnace-AAS(GFAAS), a 20 000-fold excess of Pb can be separated by an optimized temperature program before Pd atomization starts.
