Zusammenfassung:Two different electrochemical methods confirm that the acetate ion can inhibit the corrosion processes of low carbon steel in hydrated ethanol. The conductance measurements of the solutions show that the corrosion rate of the metal decreases proportionally with increases in water concentration in 0.1 M acetic acid ethanolic solutions. The potentiodynamic profiles confirm that the charge, Q ox, related to the anodic oxidation of the electrode, decreases with increases in acetate ion concentration. A similar dependence was observed with weight loss experiments.
