Zusammenfassung:This paper describes the theoretical basis behind a system for the elimination of chatter in milling through the automatic regulation of the spindle speed. This technique is most effective in milling operations where the tooth passing frequency can approach the natural frequency of the mode responsible for chatter. Examples detailing the convergence process are presented, and non-convergence situations are described. Experimental data are quoted to illustrate typical improvements in metal removal rate. The various modes of operation of the system are described.
