Nocardial Brain Abscesses

An 80-year-old immunocompromised man presented to the emergency department with confusion. He later became obtunded, and magnetic resonance imaging of the head revealed ring-enhancing lesions. A cerebrospinal fluid culture grew Nocardia farcinica .
