Zusammenfassung:A small part of the new 1991 edition of the HITRAN database is examined to assess whether the combination of experimental measurements with predictions made using the direct numerical diagonalization (DND) technique is sufficient to produce highly accurate line intensities for atmospheric physics applications. It is shown that the 1991 edition of the HITRAN database is a great improvement over HITRAN-86 in giving CO2 line intensities but reliable CO2 intensities are still to be reached for use in atmospheric data reduction.
