Zusammenfassung: | Previously abstracted from original as item 9308-31-3209. The modern view on the nature of steel brittleness induced by constructional stress concentrators is reported. Alpha-iron and carbon steels (St. U8, St.45, St.50, St.70, St.20GFTL) were taken as examples to show that stress concentrators promoted three-dimensional stress state around themselves along with strain concentration. A substantiation was made for the use of coefficient of toughness as a brittle fracture criterion. Within the framework of the approach suggested a phenomenon of brittle fracture was considered as applied to machine parts with stress concentrators arisen from the design. The possibility was shown to predict the temperature of cold brittleness with the help of the approach described. |
