Landsat Thematic Mapper data and land-use assessment in the coastal Mediterranean region (Donnees Thematic Mapper de Landsat et perception de l'occupation du sol en milieu littoral mediterraneen)

This study is focused on the evaluation of the accuracy of Landsat TM data applied to land-use mapping in the Mediterranean area in southern France. As a first step, the best channels have been selected by unsupervised classification. In the second step, channels TM3, TM4 and TM5 have been considered for a supervised classification in urban, natural, and crop areas. The accuracy of this classification clearly shows the relation between the heterogeneity of the test sites selected as the study area. (Author)
