Zusammenfassung:The change in structure of highly oriented polyethylene as a result of irratidation with doses up to 1670 Mrad is studied by an X-ray diffraction analysis method. The fracture of linear systems formed by straightening of the macromolecules in the amorphous regions, and containing only trans-conformers and their continuation in crystallites, is the main structure effect. As a result of this fracture the elasticity modulus is decreased during irradiation.
