Results from complex studies on the effect of plasma cutting on fatigue and crack resistance of steel 14KhGNMDAFBRT are presented. The thermal effect of a plasma arc increases the fatigue limit of the reinforced surface and heat affected zone as against the initial nonreinforced material. The crack propagation rate remains unchanged.
