Zusammenfassung: | The effects of plasma exposure in the TEXTOR tokomak on elevated temperature fatigue lifetime and failure micromechanisms of 316L austenitic stainless steel and DIN 1.4914 martensitic steel (NET reference heats) have been evaluated. Fatigue tests were carried out in vacuum in the temperature range 150-450 deg C and compared with data from reference specimens. Plasma-induced surface modifications lead to significant deterioration in fatigue life of 316L steel, whereas the lifetime of 1.4914 steel is unaffected. Fatigue in the 1.4914 steel is surface-initiated only at high stresses. At low stress amplitudes internal fatigue initiation at inclusions was observed. |
