The Fifth Surface Modification Technologies Conference

The conference was attended by representatives from 23 countries. More than 100 papers were presented. The papers indicate a changing focus in the field as the number of papers on diamond films and diamond-like materials more than doubled. There was also a sharp increase in the papers on laser processing. Other topics covered include orthopedic implants and optical coatings.
