Corrosion Problems and Prevention in Municipal Refuse Incineration Plants

Materials constituting a municipal refuse incineration system are subjected to many types of corrosion damages such as hot gas corrosion, molten ash corrosion, and a variety of wet corrosion containing a dewpoint corrosion. Recently, the corrosion problems become more serious because of ever increasing amount and a qualitative change of refuse. In this article, the trend of the recent corrosion phenomena and the preventing approach are presented for the case of Tokyo Metropolitan.
