Zusammenfassung:•Antimicrobial susceptibility testing is a crucial step for an appropriate therapy of infectious diseases.•New approach based on early readings directly from positive blood cultures using a broth microdilution method.•Early and fast antibiotic susceptibility testing of bacteria causing bloodstream infections is considered to be a very high priority in microbiological laboratories.•Direct-Antimicrobial susceptibility testing allows to carry out a rapid profile of antibiotic resistance. Antimicrobial Susceptibility Testing is mandatory for Bloodstream Infections management in order to establish appropriate antimicrobial therapy. Herein we evaluated new approach based on AST results directly from positive blood cultures, using Microscan WA to carry out rapid phenotypical profile of antibiotic resistance. Our investigations allow to reduce time versus traditional results
