Average copper charge and valence states of superconducting copper-oxides

The average charge and possible valence states of copper ions are calculated and tabulated for the superconducting oxide compounds (R 1 − x M x ) 2− y CuO 4− d (the 21 type) and R 1− x M 2− y Cu 3O 8− d (the 123 type).
