Zusammenfassung:Most video media are filmed and distributed through cell phones due to the improved camera performance and high ease of use. However, due to their digital nature, the original status of cell phone videos used as evidence must be verified. For this analysis, we devised a method to read whether the videos are original or not and whether they are second‐order encoded or higher via a data‐rate analysis over the recording time of the smartphone videos. For this study, videos taken by smartphones were analyzed through experiments, demonstrating that a constant amount of data is generated over time, regardless of the scene. We also demonstrated that a unique pattern exists between the time taken and the amount of data output, depending on the smartphone manufacturer and model. Furthermore, for quantitative numerical computations on unique patterns, we output the amount of data per second generated by each model. Furthermore, the amount of data per second for each model varies when encoded using secondary or higher compression. This method allowed us to use the data‐per‐second analysis techniques proposed in this study to determine whether the videos taken by smartphones are original.
