Zusammenfassung: | The final description of corrosion resistance makes comparisons based on equivalent stainless steel types of the AISI 200 series, based on literature data. The maximum permissible carbon content, closely related to the intercrystalline corrosion resistance, is higher in AISI 200 than in the austenitic AISI 300 series. The nitrogen is beneficial as regards the pitting corrosion resistance of austenitic (CrNiMo) stainless steels, especially in chlorides and acid chlorides, and so the types 201, 202 and 204 have roughly the same corrosion resistance as the 301, 302 and 304: AISI 216 is better in this respect than the AISI 316. 11 ref.--R.H. |
