Longitudinal--Transverse Bending of Rods Involving Large Physical Nonlinearities and Creep

A method is proposed for calculating longitudinal--transverse bending of rods subjected to prolonged loading by considerable loads, enabling such factors as crack formation, creep, contraction and ageing to be considered. It is a generalized method of calculating the strength of rods, based on the effects of large, short-duration loads. Results suggest that this method can be used to study the behaviour of rods of different materials during the continuous action of arbitrary combinations of longitudinal and transverse loads over all ranges of loads acting on them. 9 ref.--A.G.C.
