Zusammenfassung:Previously abstracted from original as item 8909-4.4-0364Y. Strength characteristics of boron fiber reinforced Al (AD1) are studied as affected by the structure of the fiber/matrix interface. It is shown that effects of optimal discrete reinforcement of B fiber reinforced Al may be realized, to a certain extent, if changing purposefully structural characteristics of the interface, such as density of interphase bonds theta . In the case when theta = 0.340, the effect of discrete reinforcement is the largest both as regards the failure work and elongation, if the composite strength remains relatively high. Failure work of discrete B reinforced Al is five times higher than that of the continuously reinforced material, but relative elongation reaches approx 10%. 3 ref.--X-ref.
