Synthesis and characteristics of Fe-Mn glycerate (alkoxides), new precursors of ferrite structures

Zusammenfassung: | Fe-Mn glycerate was synthesised from a mixture of appropriate amounts of synthetic goethite (x-FeOOH) and finely divided pyrolusite (MnO2). If MnO2 is substituted by MnCO3 in the mixture, Fe-Mn alkoxide is readily produced after boiling with glycerol. XRD data revealed a strong single peak at 0.812 nm, indicating that the initial mixture is entirely transformed into Fe-Mn glycerate. This was confirmed by FTIR spectroscopy. Chemical and microchemical analysis was also carried out. This work has led to a novel way of synthesising ferrite structures (MnFe2O4) which have different characteristics from ferrite prepared by other methods. 9 refs. |
