Zusammenfassung:A comprehensive set of experimental results is reported for a pulsed lithium niobate optical parametric amplifier. The amplifier was pumped at 1.064 μm and the gain measured with a signal of good spatial quality at 1.9 μm. A gain of greater than 30 was observed in the small-signal regime, and up to 27 mJ of signal energy per pulse was extracted in the large-signal regime. An investigation of the spatial properties of the signal and idler beams after the optical parametric amplifier showed them to be close to diffraction limited.
