Zusammenfassung: | The erosion behavior of physically vapor deposited arc evaporation TiN coating was evaluated as a function of the internal stress and crystallographic orientation. The erosion rate of the coating to 50 μm alumina particles at normal impact decreases with increasing preffered orientation in (111) and increases with increasing magnitude of residual stress. Scanning electron microscopy examinations reveal that the eroded surface morphology of the coating varies critically with its internal stress. Erosion mechanisms of TiN coating are characterized and discussed. Effects of substrate materials on the internal stress of the coating are also discussed. |
