Friction and wear studies of a bismaleimide
Bismaleimides are thermally stable thermosetting polyimides. They are brittle in nature, because of their high cross—link density, which can be reduced by certain chain extension reactions. The authors have previously studied the friction and wear properties of 4,4′ (bismaleimido) diphenyl methane....

Zusammenfassung: | Bismaleimides are thermally stable thermosetting polyimides. They are brittle in nature, because of their high cross—link density, which can be reduced by certain chain extension reactions. The authors have previously studied the friction and wear properties of 4,4′ (bismaleimido) diphenyl methane. This compound has a high rate of wear. This paper discusses the friction and wear properties of a chain extended product 4,4′ (bismaleimido) diphenyl methane. Chain extension improves the wear characteristics of the bismaleimide, particularly at high loads. |
