Coloring of anodic oxide coatings on aluminum by the PVD method
A new method of coloring anodic oxide films coated on Al is tested. Under a reduced pressure, vaporized organic pigments penetrate into fine pores existing in the anodic oxide coatings. Five organic pigments (PY-17, PY-182, PV-19, PB-15, and PV-23) were tested. The optimum temperature for coloring i...

Zusammenfassung: | A new method of coloring anodic oxide films coated on Al is tested. Under a reduced pressure, vaporized organic pigments penetrate into fine pores existing in the anodic oxide coatings. Five organic pigments (PY-17, PY-182, PV-19, PB-15, and PV-23) were tested. The optimum temperature for coloring is different for each pigment. "Sealing Salt AS" was used to protect the colored coating. The color of the coating was similar to that of the pigment. According to accelerated weathering tests and light exposure tests, the durability of the colored coatings formed by the present method is better than that formed by conventional methods. 6 ref.--H.O.(Alfed/UK/US). |
