Zusammenfassung: | Hamad at el discuss the case study of a 24-year-old male presented with acute onset of fever and cough with mucopurulent expectoration, sometimes blood tinged. He gave a history of recurrent milder attacks managed in outpatient services over the last 3 years. Computed tomography of the chest with multiplanar coronal and sagittal reformation showed air-filed markedly dilated apicoposlerior and anterior segments of the left upper lobe with the absence of central bronchial communication; the surrounding lung parenchyma was more radiolucent with fewer bronchovascular markings in comparison to the lingula and lower lobe. These findings are consistent with a diagnosis of bronchial atresia. Additionally, a rounded mass-Iike opacity was present in the posterior part of the apicopostenor segment. |
