Zusammenfassung: | In the first part of this paper we discuss the main results obtained by comparing personal computer (PC)-based Linear Programming (LP)-software. It comprises performance measures as well as other criteria relevant for industrial use. Especially we are concerned with the question,
whether the current PC-based LP-software is able to solve small to medium size LP-models.
In the second part we demonstrate,
how LP software could be applied in an industrial setting by describing the planning concept of a PC-based planning system used to solve an actual decision problem. |
