Summary and overview of the conference

The following categories are basic for a comprehensive understanding of recycling and were discussed at the Conference held in Washington D.C. during July 1984 (1) the structure of recycling, (2) economics and industrial organization, (3) institutional and regulatory aspects, (4) processing and technology, and (5) research and technical perspective. The papers presented at the Conference are analyzed with respect to these categories although most of the papers fall into more than one category.
