Semiempirical modeling of the nocturnal boundary layer Application to the calculation of the refractive index profile (Modelisation semi-empirique de la couche limite nocturne Application au calcul du profil d'indice de refraction)

A method for calculating the evolution of the refractive index profile at night is proposed with the purpose of predicting when and how multipath propagation will occur. Data obtained during the PACEM 1 campaign in the summer of 1982 are used in the calculations. The proposed semiempirical model of the nocturnal boundary layer is found to require is less-computing time. (B.J.)
