Zusammenfassung: | A study of the strength of unbraced steel building frames designed according to AISC Type 2 construction is presented. A nonlinear analysis that includes the effects of geometric and material nonlinearity as well as connection flexibility is outlined and used to predict the behavior and strength of a range of Type 2 frames under monotonically applied gravity and wind loads. Strength interaction curves demonstrate frame strength well in excess of that required by specifications, but frame sway needs careful attention in such structures. |
