Zusammenfassung: | Sol-gel techniques have been used to make single-phase alumina and diphasic Ni, NiO and NiAl
2O
4-alumina and AgCl-silica abrasive grains. The hardness, stiffness and toughness of these grains have been measured by indentation methods. The results have been compared with the results of similar measurements on soda-lime glass and on such current generation abrasives as α-Al
2O
3, α-SiO
2, Cubitron
®
and Norzon
®
. The new composite NiAl
2O
4-alumina grain has properties that compare well with those of current abrasives. |
