Zusammenfassung: | In the conventional aluminum electrolytic reduction process, a molten metal pool is contained in a carbon cell bottom. An Al1 sub(4)C sub(3) reaction layer is thought to be responsible for a significant voltage drop, thereby reducing the energy efficiency of the reduction process. To gain a better understanding of the voltage drop that could be expected in this region, the electrical resistivity of Al1 sub(4)C sub(3) was measured at temperatures of interest (990-1240 K). |
