Zusammenfassung: | Diffusion annealing of Cu single crystal slices with Zn sources comprised of fine brass chips (30% Zn) show that diffusion induced recrystallization (DIR) is a heterogeneously nucleated phenomenon in the Cu--Zn system. The nucleation is considered to be associated with residual surface unevenness rather than subsurface dislocation structures.
