On variation of impact toughness in 17-4 precipitation hardened stainless steel
The effects of aging temperature and rate of cooling after solution annealing at 1310K on the impact toughness were determined for a 17-4 precipitation hardened stainless steel having Nb/carbon ratios of 3.8 or 8.5. The impact toughness increased with increasing aging temperature and this increased...

Zusammenfassung: | The effects of aging temperature and rate of cooling after solution annealing at 1310K on the impact toughness were determined for a 17-4 precipitation hardened stainless steel having Nb/carbon ratios of 3.8 or 8.5. The impact toughness increased with increasing aging temperature and this increased toughness was related to decreased phosphorus segregation. Slow cooling and holding at 890K decreased the impact toughness. These changes are related to P and Cu segregation and the formation of NbC during holding at 890K. 12 ref.--D.O.N. |
