Zusammenfassung: | A study on the impact properties of natural fibre composites containing sisal, pineapple, banana, and coir fibres is reviewed. The mechanical properties of these natural fibres and the work of fracture of their composites are discussed. Fractographs of impact-tested polyester composites of sisal, pineapple, banana, and coir fibres are illustrated and fracture tips of these fibres in impact-tested polyester composites are shown. It is confirmed that microfibrillar angle in natural fibres plays an important role in determining the impact behavior of these composites and this effect should be taken into account, along with the other parameters, when predicting the impact properties of natural fibre composites. 12 ref.--A.R. |
