Zusammenfassung:•Obstructive sleep apnea is prevalent in new-onset atrial fibrillation patients.•Sleep apnea may be pauci-symptomatic in new-onset atrial fibrillation patients.•A ≥4 STOP-BANG scoring predicts CPAP indication in atrial fibrillation patients seen in an Electrophysiology outpatient clinic.•An algorithm to rule out CPAP indication in new-onset atrial fibrillation is provided. Obstructive sleep apnea-hypopnea syndrome (OSA) compromises the efficacy of atrial fibrillation (AF) control strategies. Continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) may ameliorate arrhythmia control especially in early AF stages (new-onset AF). We investigated a practical screening strategy to determine the likelihood of CPAP indication in new-onset AF patients. Seventy-seven consecutive patients with new-onset (
