Zusammenfassung:A new type of electrochemical cell is described that can be employed to electrochemically transport hydrogen. It consists of a unique three layer solid/liquid/solid (S/L/S) sandwich configuration with a thin film hydride-conducting liquid electrolyte between two H-transparent mixed-conducting metal electrodes. Its general characteristics and prospects for several types of applications are discussed. Examples of Pd, Pd--Ag alloy, vanadium, Ti and Ta are given. 19 ref.--AA
