Zusammenfassung:•Proposal for an appropriate nomenclature for a modified temporomandibular joint incision: root of helix inter tragus notch incision (RHITNI).•Surgical incision allow a complete anatomic control during the surgery, an adequate surgical exposure and a reduce risk for nerve damage.•This procedure is associated with an invisible scar as noticed by patients.•In the authors opinion, this incision combines simplicity, safety, efficacy and cosmetic satisfaction.
