Zusammenfassung:Various methods have been used to reveal the voids arising from ductile fracture processes in a structural steel and the techniques were compared. Using a series of interrupted smooth bar tensile tests, specimens were stopped at different plastic strains and nucleation was investigated. The material tested was a C--Mn structural steel (BS4360Gr50D) with low sulfur content.
