Zusammenfassung:The strain rate sensitivity of flow stress in high temperature deformation was determined for dispersion strengthened Al--4Ti and Al--6Ti alloys processed by rapid solidification processing (RSP) and mechanical alloying (MA) routes. A strain rate sensitivity index of approx 0.3 and an extended tensile ductility of approx 300% were observed in the non-mechanically alloyed Al--4Ti, whereas the MA alloys exhibit rate insensitive high temperature flow behavior and low tensile ductility. The strengthening effect and loss in strain rate sensitivity in high temperature deformation resulted from increasing amounts of fine dispersoids, despite the ultrafine grain size obtained by RSP/MA. 9 ref.--D.O.N.(UK/US).
