Effect of prior austenite grain size on high temperature creep properties of CrMoV rotor steel

The creep behaviour of a 1.1Cr--1.23Mo--0.25V--0.27C steel at 650 deg C was investigated for steels having austenite grain sizes from 10-106 mu m. The minimum creep rate is inversely proportional to the prior austenite grain diameter for grain sizes < 50 mu m. A further decrease in the prior aust...

Zusammenfassung:The creep behaviour of a 1.1Cr--1.23Mo--0.25V--0.27C steel at 650 deg C was investigated for steels having austenite grain sizes from 10-106 mu m. The minimum creep rate is inversely proportional to the prior austenite grain diameter for grain sizes < 50 mu m. A further decrease in the prior austenite grain size beyond 50 mu m does not lead to a further decrease in the minimum creep rate. This behaviour is related to the volume of the fully recovered zone and the presence of intergranular cracks. 10 ref.--D.O.N.
