Stimulated raman side scattering from magnetized plasmas

Frequency shifts and growth rates are calculated for the decay of an incident light wave (propagating as an extraordinary mode) into a plasma wave and scattered right- or left-hand circularly polarized electromagnetic waves. The relevance of the results to some recent experiments is discussed.
