Zusammenfassung: | drashutoshkumar@aiimspatna.org Epidemics are supposed to hit urban areas with dense populations and poor socioeconomic conditions—slums—hardest.1 Globally, covid-19 is following this pattern. A vigorous approach of tracing, tracking, testing, and treatment was applied to limit the spread.4 Older people were given special attention. Most symptomatic cases were treated at community centres, except when critical.5 Investment in trust building efforts to harness public support for ruthless containment measures was made.5 The concerted efforts made for containment have been effective.6 Currently, less than 100 active covid-19 cases remain in Dharavi.7 Recently the World Health Organization has applauded the success of Dharavi, and the BMC is now presenting its strategy as a model to replicate in other parts of the city.6 Effective containment of covid-19 in Dharavi has set an example for the world. |
