Two-step gas adsorption induced by the transmetallation in a two-dimensional metal-organic framework

Transmetallation or replacement of Zn 2+ ions with Cu 2+ ions in a two-dimensional metal-organic framework, Zn 3 (TCPB) 2 (H 2 O) 2 (H 3 TCPB = 1,3,5-tri(4-carboxyphenoxy)benzene), gives rise to additional gas adsorption, where the additional adsorption amount linearly depends on the degree of the transmetallation. Transmetallation of Zn 2+ with Cu 2+ in a two-dimensional metal-organic framework, Zn 3 (TCPB) 2 (H 2 O) 2 (H 3 TCPB = 1,3,5-tri(4-carboxyphenoxy)benzene), leads to two-step and reversible gas adsorption.
