An effect of the passage of electric current during heat treatment on the hydrogen embrittlement of steel

Zusammenfassung: | Electrothermal heat treatment has been found to have a beneficial effect on the resistance to hydrogen embrittlement of SAE 4340 steel. Electrothermal treatment consists of passing a d.c. through the part being heat treated during tempering. SAE 4340 specimens electrothermally treated resisted embrittlement for 24 h, as compared to 135-220 min for specimens tempered conventionally. 12 ref.--G.P.K. |
