Metallographic observations of dynamic recrystallization in Ni3Al
It has been shown in earlier studies that the fracture surfaces of Ll2 alloys, in particular Zr3Al and (FeCO)3V, ruptured in tension at high temperatures (750 and 1000 C, respectively) feature nodules about 1 micron in diameter superimposed upon a coarser grain-sized background. These nodules have b...

Zusammenfassung: | It has been shown in earlier studies that the fracture surfaces of Ll2 alloys, in particular Zr3Al and (FeCO)3V, ruptured in tension at high temperatures (750 and 1000 C, respectively) feature nodules about 1 micron in diameter superimposed upon a coarser grain-sized background. These nodules have been ascribed to dynamic recrystallization near grain boundaries followed by grain boundary sliding. Transmission electron microscopy and optical microscopy data are reported here for another Ll2 alloy, Ni3Al, which provide conclusive evidence of dynamic recrystallization in these alloys. |
