Zusammenfassung: | Oey et al, whose retrospective multicenter study included 53 patients with ectopic variceal bleeds from 1992 to 2016 who underwent a TIPS procedure with bare metal stent or expanded polytetrafluoroethylene covered stent, noted a 77% prevention in rebleeds with a 41% 1-year mortality rate. 1 A study examining ectopic variceal bleeds with patients undergoing TIPS for treatment showed an 80% 1-year survival rate with a rebleeding rate of 23% in 1 year. In Vangeli’s study, TIPS alone showed to prevent rebleeding or stop hemorrhage in 7 of 12 patients, with rebleeds within 48 hours in 5 of 12 patients. 2 However, they noted 63% decrease in portosystemic pressure gradient |
