Effect of the Strength Properties of Boron Fibres on Boraluminium Strength

The effect of average strength sigma sub f and of the strength variation coefficient mu on the boron fibre--Al longitudinal strength sigma sub c is analysed in cumulative C, mixed M and non-cumulative NC fracture modes. It has been shown that in C and M fractures, the effect of sigma sub f and mu on...

Zusammenfassung:The effect of average strength sigma sub f and of the strength variation coefficient mu on the boron fibre--Al longitudinal strength sigma sub c is analysed in cumulative C, mixed M and non-cumulative NC fracture modes. It has been shown that in C and M fractures, the effect of sigma sub f and mu on the composite strength is more important. Moreover, the increase in sigma sub f in all cases leads to an increase in sigma sub c ; the mu effect of sigma sub c has a harmonic character. Calculations are correlated with experimental data. 5 ref.--AA
