Effects of copper on precipitation and quench sensitivity of AlZnMg alloys
A calorimetric study using AlZnMgCu alloys (7075) has shown that Cu significantly changes the intermediate precipitate phase in AlZnMg alloys, and has demonstrated the efficacy of a small Cu addition (0.63%) to reduce the sensitivity of AlZnMg alloys to large variations in cooling rates. A model has...

Zusammenfassung: | A calorimetric study using AlZnMgCu alloys (7075) has shown that Cu significantly changes the intermediate precipitate phase in AlZnMg alloys, and has demonstrated the efficacy of a small Cu addition (0.63%) to reduce the sensitivity of AlZnMg alloys to large variations in cooling rates. A model has been proposed to explain this observation based on the enhanced formation of solute--vacancy complexes during the quench that nucleate the transition eta ' precipitates during aging. 16 ref.--AA. |
