A compositional index of the pozzolanic potential of pulverized-fuel ash
The composition of pulverized fuel ash (PFA) is explained on the basis of processes occurring in the mineral fraction of coal during firing. Zusammenfassung: | The composition of pulverized fuel ash (PFA) is explained on the basis of processes occurring in the mineral fraction of coal during firing. Up to 6% K2O present in illite causes its fusion and the formation of amorphous pozzolanic material. Kaolinite, having no K2O content, is infusible at the combustion temperature. The amorphous content of PFA's of coal-fired UK power stations increases with the molar ratio of K2O to Al2O3, which is therefore recommended as an index of pozzolanic potential. 3pp 1fig 2tab |
