Successful treatment of large cutaneous facial Rosai-Dorfman disease using combination of subtotal resection and ALA-PDT: A case report

•It is the first report of Rosai-Dorfman disease treated by combination of subtotal resection and ALA-PDT.•The current therapy methods were discussed.•We provide a new therapeutic choice for cutaneous Rosai-Dorfman disease. Rosai-Dorfman disease (RDD), also called sinus histiocytosis with massive lymphadenopathy, is a rare, benign and self-limited histiocytosis. We present a case of cutaneous Rosai-Dorfman disease (CRDD) on the right cheek that responded well to combination of subtotal resection and ALA-PDT. We believe that the combination of subtotal resection and ALA-PDT treatment for large cutaneous facial Rosai-Dorfman disease patients is a more effective, highly satisfying, and quick therapy worth promoting.
