Zusammenfassung: | In Danish, the clefted constituent of the cleft construction can be non-nominal, that is adverbial. This special type of clefts has not yet been extensively described in the Danish literature on clefts. The present article aims to remedy that, by discussing the function of adverbial cleft constructions. It will offer guidance on how to properly distinguish these types of clefts from other constructions that are superficially similar. It will discuss why there seem to be adverbials that are acceptable as cleft constituents and finally, it will relate adverbial clefts to the cleft type known as IP-clefts (clefts that introduce new information in the cleft clause). |
